### Why cannot we see the edge the Earth?

 It is common to think of Earth's "edge" as a flat

disk that can be seen from a distance. This misconception stems from a misunderstanding of Earth's size and its place in the universe. The Earth isn't a flat disc with a distinct edge that can be seen from a distance. It is actually an oblate-spheroid. This means that the Earth is mostly spherical, but it is flattened slightly at the poles, and bulged slightly at the equator because of its rotation.  **1. Earth's curvature:**   Curvature is one reason why we can't see beyond a certain point on the Earth. The horizon always remains at eye-level as you move along the surface of the Earth, but its curvature makes it impossible to see beyond a certain point. The curvature of the earth is why ships' hulls disappear first as they move and distant objects seem to sink beneath the horizon.
